- The U.G.C has sanctioned a major Research Project to the Department of Social Work, entitled An Action Research Study on Creating Sustainable Livelihoods for Rural Women, Thirupassur Panchayat, Thirvallur District, Tamil Nadu. The period of the Research Project is two years (February 2011 to January 2013) and the Principal Investigator is Dr. Sandra Joseph, Associate Professor, Department of Social Work. The Research combines both qualitative and quantitative techniques, and involves the participation of the students of the department.
- The UGC has sanctioned a 3 year Major Research Project to the Department of Mathematics on the topic Dilation and Wirelength Problems in Interconnection Networks with effect from 1.2.2011. The Principal Investigator of the Project is Dr. Jacintha Quadras,fmm, Principal and Head, Department of Mathematics.
- A U.G.C. Project entitled Synthesis, Characterization and Humidity Sensing Properties of Nanocomposites of Lanthanum Mixed Metal Oxide was sanctioned to the Department of Chemistry in July 2011 by the U.G.C- D.A.E., Delhi for a period of one year, which may be extended up to a total period of three years. The Principal Investigator is Dr. Mary George, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry.
- An 18-month U.G.C. Minor Research Project was sanctioned to the Department of Fine Arts entitled Gendered Spaces - Representation of Women in Contemporary Painting and Print Media in Chennai in July 2010. The Principal Investigator is Dr. Razia Tony, Associate Professor, Department of Fine Arts.
- An 18 month U.G.C. Minor Research Project entitled Theoretical Studies on P-Waves Super Conductivity in Two Coupled Chains of Spinless Fermions was sanctioned to the Department of Physics in August 2012. The Principal Investigator of the Project is Dr. Rajini K. H., Head, Department of Physics.
- An 18 month U.G.C. Minor Research Project entitled Synthesis, Characterisation and Humidity Sensing Properties of Nanocomposites of Rare Earth Mixed Metal was sanctioned to the Department of Chemistry in August 2012. The Principal Investigator is Dr. Mary George, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry.
- A 3 year Major Research Project titled 'Synthesis, Characterisation and Application of Novel Polymer Metal Nanocomposites in Optoelectronics' was sanctioned to the department of Chemistry in April 2013. The Principal Investigators are Dr. Mary N.L. and Dr. Revathy Rajagopal.
- A UGC Minor Research Project entitled A Study on Distribution Networks Adopted by Women Entrepreneurs of the Unorganised Sector in Chennai and Neighbouring Districts was sanctioned in April 2013 to the Department of Commerce for a period of 18 months, which may be extended to 2 years. The Principal Investigator is Dr. Agnes Rozario, Associate Professor and Head, department of Commerce.
- A UGC Minor Research Project entitled A Comparative Study of Work Life Balance of Female Nurses in Government and Private Hospitals in Chennai, Tamil Nadu was sanctioned in April 2013 to the Department of Commerce for a period of 18 months, which may be extended up to 2 years. The Principal Investigator is Ms. A. Rashida Banu, Associate Professor, department of Commerce.
- A UGC Minor Research Project entitled Reclaiming Green Presences: An Interdisciplinary Approach to the Subjectivity of Plants in Literature and Botanical Sciences was sanctioned in April 2013 to the Department of English for a period of 18 months, which may be extended to two years. The Principal Investigator is Dr. Padma V., Assistant Professor, department of English.
- A UGC Minor Research Project entitled Antimicrobial and Cytotoxic Activity of Nano Stuctured Polymer Supported Complexes was sanctioned to the Department of Chemistry in April 2013 for a period of 18 months, which may be extended to two years. The Principal Investigator is Dr. Mary N.L., Associate Professor, department of Chemistry.
