ICACT 2020 Conference
ICACT 2020, an International Conference on Advancements in Computing Technologies, is to be held on 10 and 11 January 2020 at Stella Maris College(Autonomous), Chennai, TamilNadu, India. The Conference aims to serve as a platform where knowledge and expertise about the latest technologies in the ever-evolving field of computer science can be shared among researchers, academicians and students. ICACT 2020 is pleased to invite research papers on various aspects of computer technologies.
ABOUT THE COLLEGE
Stella Maris College
Stella Maris College is a Catholic minority institution in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is affiliated to the University of Madras and is a premier higher education institution for women. Founded in 1947, the College is run by the Institute of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary (FMM). The College is committed to serving the economically and socially marginalised sections of society and provides value-based, holistic university education in a Christian atmosphere, for students, especially those belonging to the Catholic community. Admission is open to all, irrespective of caste and creed, and their rights of conscience are respected.
In keeping with its mission, the College promotes inclusive practices in the implementation of its academic programmes, taking into account learning differences and the special needs of the differently-abled. A student-centric, participatory teaching-learning-evaluation system assures the students of optimal educational benefits. The College became autonomous in 1987 and has currently 21 undergraduate and 13 postgraduate programmes with seven departments offering M.Phil. programmes and six departments offering Ph.D. programmes. Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificate Courses are also offered.
Department of Computer Science
The undergraduate programme in Computer Applications (B.C.A.) was started in 1998 and the postgraduate programme—M.Sc. Information Technology —in 2001. The curriculum of both the programmes are framed in consultation with experts in the academia and from the industry. Graduates of the Department have had a successful placement record. The Department makes every effort to update its curriculum in order to enhance competence and employability. At the same time, it ensures that the demands of employability do not affect academic excellence and the pursuit of knowledge.
